# Christopher Klenk — Sport Scientist | Fitness × AI

I'm Chris. I get excited about things easily and I'm always on the lookout for something new and better — but my sport science degree keeps reminding me to question things critically. That's exactly what makes AI interesting to me: at least at first glance, it gives me freedoms I used to need other people for — a professional developer, say. Or I can have my training data analysed in minutes. But what comes out of that deserves a closer look — and that only works with background knowledge and the right questions. Starting with the very first prompt.

## My background

A sport science degree, 17 years as a coach, and my own training experience for even longer — even if that's a bit rusty at the moment. Over the years I've worked with many facets of sport, training and health: from classic coaching and performance diagnostics to a health project for the long-term unemployed, back then as a freelance contributor at the [Department of Sports Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt](https://www.uni-frankfurt.de/154336794/Ehemalige_Mitarbeiterinnen_und_Mitarbeiter). Plus a fondness for analysis, apps and what technology can actually deliver in training.

These days I try a lot of things myself — different AI models, my own apps, the occasional n8n workflow that makes my life easier. Oh, and I'm Swabian. Tinkering is in my blood, and I'm picky about spending money: I'm happy to pay for real quality — not for things that mostly live off good marketing. So before I subscribe to the tenth hip app, I'd rather build something myself. Then I know what I have — and who messed it up.

## Why TheFitFuturist?

Training is getting more and more technical. Every app calls itself "AI-powered", every wearable manufacturer promises "personalised recommendations". Hardly anyone explains what actually happens under the hood. Since LLMs like ChatGPT became available, new possibilities keep opening up — but also new risks that hardly anyone talks about.

TheFitFuturist is for people who want to separate hype from real value. Who want to know what's behind the algorithms. Who analyse their own data and actively use LLMs for their training — instead of passively consuming whatever an app puts in front of them. And: it's important to me to find the balance between technology and the pure joy of movement. Not everything has to be optimised all the time — sometimes it's simply allowed to be fun. Without the stress of constantly doing something wrong, just because the app says so.

## My approach

**Practical:** Prompts here aren't just for copying — you should also be able to see how they're built. Plus self-built tools you can try out right away and adapt to your needs, and guides on topics you'd otherwise only find in hard-to-digest scientific papers. Theory packaged so that everyone gets it (even me).

**Honest:** If something doesn't work in my view, I'll write that — even if it's a product everyone else is praising to the skies. Often several paths lead to the same goal, and there's no black or white. Which path is best rarely has a one-size-fits-all answer.

**Tested:** What I write, I put in the context of my practical experience. The "scientific" label gets slapped on every website these days — and not every study is created equal. Here it means: studies and the marketing of big manufacturers have to measure up against real training experience. Mine and yours.

**AI-assisted:** Articles are based on my knowledge, my experience and my own research — partly drafted with AI support. I review all content editorially and take responsibility for it.
